If you’ve been pondering whether you should stay on property, stop reading now – and go read my blog all about the benefits of staying on property – and then come back and read all about Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort.
Overview
Resort Name: Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort
Location: Animal Kingdom Resort Area
Type: Value Resort
The Resort
Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort is your quintessential Disney larger than life movie themed hotel. Each of the building greets you with massive Disney characters, and the stairwells are themed to each movie, e.g. Buckets of Toy Soldiers for Toy Story buildings, and have movie character statues for photo ops.
Building Themes:
- Fantasia (Preferred)
- Toy Story (Preferred)
- 101 Dalmatians (Preferred)
- Love Bug (Standard)
- Mighty Ducks (Standard)
I personally think the best part of this hotel is the Toy Story buildings. There is a life size RC car that kids can sit in, a large doorway to “enter” Andy’s room, and the massive Buzz, Woody, Rex, Bo Peep, and other games for kids to climb around and explore.
All-Star Movies is a sister property with All-Star Music and All-Star Sports. They are all walkable to each other, and depending on the time of day, may share buses. Guests at All-Star Resorts can use any of the All-Star pools, which is an exception to the rules about pools being exclusive to resort guests.
Per the Disney website, this hotel will be under refurbishment May 2026 – January 2027.

Rooms
Disney’s All- Star Movies resort has 10 buildings and are split into two room types, Standard and Preferred.
Room Types:
- Preferred Room (Buildings 1, 4, 5, 8, 9, and 10)
- Standard Room (Buildings 2, 3, 6, and 7)
Rooms can have either 1 Queen Bed with 1 Queen-Size Table Bed with a maximum occupancy of 4 guests, or 1 King Bed with a maximum occupancy of 2 guests. Guests that need more than 4 per room would need to book two rooms and put in a request for adjoining rooms.
I booked a “Preferred Room” and called in a request for the Toy Story buildings as my toddler LOVES Toy Story, which was why we stayed at this hotel. Room preferences are NOT guaranteed – but I thought it was worth a shot, and it paid off on this trip.
We were in room 9757 which was on the first floor of Toy Story Building 9. We didn’t have to take the elevator with the stroller, and we were on the end and didn’t feel like many people were walking by, so it was pretty quiet. We also walked past all the characters getting in and out of our rooms, which was so magical for my toddler. Overall, we loved this room and location.
We were assigned a room with the Queen bed and the pull down queen for the amount of people we had, and I think this worked out fine. We were still able to find a spot for my baby’s pack n play with Slumberpod.
Additional parts of the room: beverage cooler, closet, 3 dresser drawers, cabinet with 3 shelves, door to separate the bathroom, single sink, plus a shower/tub/toilet room.
Pros:
- Tub!!!! So hard to have an extended trip with the baby and only a shower. Toddler can shower, so with him we don’t normally care.
- Fun building themes.
- Price. All-Star Resorts are going to be the most affordable rooms on property.
- So many outlets everywhere.
- Ability to store luggage under the beds.
Cons:
- These are going to be the smallest non-DVC rooms on property. The only rooms smaller are some of the 2 person DVC rooms.
- Lack of storage. There are only 3 drawers in addition to the closet and small cabinet. We were glad this was a shorter trip considering.
- All the room décor is the same – it doesn’t matter what building you are in, all of the rooms look the same on the inside.
- All-Star resorts tend to have the most groups for events happening around Walt Disney World. This isn’t a deterrent for us but is something to keep in mind.
Two Additional Notes:
- All Walt Disney World Hotels have pack and plays and cribs on site. Pack and plays are a bit easier to request and are easy to assemble. We always travel with a Slumberpod (not sponsored – just highly recommend) and there is a Disney provided pack and play inside.
- This hotel is to undergo refurbishment May 2026 – January 2027, so my comments on what is in the rooms and what they look like may change.

Transportation
WDW Bus transportation is available for all Disney Parks: Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Epcot, Disney Springs, and the two water parks. All bust stops are located at Cinema Hall (the lobby). Each park has its own sign and queue to wait for buses. Make sure to put on sunscreen before you get in line, or use your time in line to apply sunscreen, as these queues are all in the sun.
Minnie Vans are available for order through the Lyft app. This is a ride share offer driven by Disney Cast Members if you prefer to take a private car on property whether it is to another resort for a dining reservation or to a park if you would rather not take the bus or boat. All Minnie Vans have multiple car seat options available for use, and the cast members are trained on install.
Parking is free for hotel guests at official Walt Disney World Resort Hotels, additionally, hotel guests can also park at the theme parks for free if they choose to drive.
Summary
This was my third time? Fourth time? Staying at All-Star Movies. It is my favorite value other than Pop Century. I think this is a great choice of hotel for anyone looking to go to Walt Disney World, but every guest has their own goals for their trip and it may not check everyone’s boxes (i.e. it does not have any slides at the pool). I would definitely stay here again – especially because my son keeps asking to stay at the RC hotel.
