Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter Resort

If you’ve been pondering whether you should stay on property, stop reading now – and go read my blog all about the benefits of staying on property – and then come back and read all about Disney’s Pop Century Resort.

Overview

Resort Name: Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter Resort

Location: Disney Springs Resort Area

Type: Moderate Resort

The Resort

Port Orleans French Quarter is an ode to New Orleans. You truly feel like you are walking around the French Quarter and Magazine St. while celebrating Mardi Gras year-round.

Port Orleans French Quarter is the smallest of the Moderate Resorts. It is quiet as you walk around the property, although the food court and main building are typically busy with guests, especially the Scat Cat Café and Lounge that draws visitors beyond hotel guests for the delicious beignets. An additional draw of this resort is that there is only one bus stop – all other Moderate Resorts have an internal bus loop with at least three stops.

This is a sister property to Port Orleans Riverside. Guests may use the amenities at both French Quarter and Riverside, which is about a 10-15 minute walk from main house to main house, or there is an internal shuttle. Depending on the time of day and which park, the resorts may share a bus. Note: This is the only time that guests can “pool hop”. Typically, pools are reserved for guests of that hotel only, but at Port Orleans French Quarter and Riverside guests can use any Port Orleans pool.

This hotel finished renovations in 2025 and is worth the visit.

Dining

Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory: Food Court. The food court has 4 different dining sections to order from, grab and go, and an option to mobile order. There is extensive seating indoors and outdoors, and you can always pop in to fill your water cup or resort soda mug.

Rooms

Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter is a compact gem of a hotel on Disney property. There are 7 buildings with rooms.

Room Types:

  • Garden View
  • River View
  • Standard View
  • Pool View
  • Standard Location (Buildings 1, 6, and 7)
  • Preferred Location (Buildings 2, 3, 4, and 5)

Rooms can have either 2 Queen Beds with a maximum occupancy of 4 guests, or 1 King Bed with a maximum occupancy of 2 guests.

I booked a “Standard View” and was placed in Building 4 with a view overlooking a garden. We happened to be placed on the third floor. We absolutely loved our room and location. This building is easily accessible to the main building, food, and the closest to the bus stops, and our room was on the third floor, which honestly was best since we have kids so that’s less guests we may bother with overnight wakings for the baby to eat.

Honestly, even if we weren’t in Building 4, I don’t think there is a bad building at this resort since it’s so compact – it wouldn’t be far to go to any room.

My room had two queen beds, a table with a bench, and we still had room to set up the pack n play with Slumberpod.

I think the only downside to this room is that we only have a shower, no tub. We made it work – and it has great water pressure – but if you have littles this could be a downside.

Additional parts of the room: closet, 7 dresser drawers, door to separate the bathroom, double sinks, plus a shower/toilet room, and CEILING FAN.

Features of the standard view room that I loved:

  1. Was in Building 4 and it was very easy to get to food and transportation, and not too long a walk at the end of the day, or back to the room in the heat of the day for a nap.
  2. The nook with the small table for snacking not in bed.
  3. The double shower head that allowed for either a standard shower head, or for the handheld.
  4. The height of the beds allowed for suitcases and storage under the bed. The room we were in was a fair size, but could be cramped with many suitcases and additional items needed for traveling families (Strollers – looking at you) – but the additional storage under the bed makes life easy for families.
  5. Decent storage for a hotel room. Closet to hang clothes, closet with shelves, pantry area with shelves, and then a 7-drawer dresser.
  6. So. Many. Outlets. Three prong outlets everywhere, and many USB and USB-C outlets throughout the room and next to the bed.

Note: All Walt Disney World Hotels have pack and plays and cribs on site. Pack and plays are a bit easier to request and are easy to assemble. We always travel with a Slumberpod (not sponsored – just highly recommend) and there is a Disney provided pack and play inside.

Transportation

Boat transportation is available to Disney Springs and Port Orleans Riverside which really adds to the Southern vibes of the resort.

WDW Bus transportation is available for all Disney Parks: Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Epcot, Disney Springs, and the two water parks. The bus stops are located off the lobby at the Blues and Jazz Station. One bus stop shelter is for Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios, and one bus stop shelter is for all other parks. They do get a bit chaotic at park opening times.

Minnie Vans are available for order through the Lyft app. This is a ride share offer driven by Disney Cast Members if you prefer to take a private car on property whether it is to another resort for a dining reservation or to a park if you would rather not take the bus or boat. All Minnie Vans have multiple car seat options available for use, and the cast members are trained on install.

Parking is free for hotel guests at official Walt Disney World Resort Hotels, additionally, hotel guests can also park at the theme parks for free if they choose to drive.

Summary

Overall, I enjoyed this hotel and would recommend to anyone wanting to stay on property. It is a smaller resort, easy to navigate, and I absolutely loved the theming. It never felt busy walking around and I loved the peacefulness as a contrast to being in the parks. Sound off in the comments and let me know your thoughts!
